Sharon Mertens

Biography

Sharon Mertens is a technical consultant and the retired Director of Water Quality Protection for Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. She has over 40 years experience in environmental laboratory testing as well as sampling and analysis issues as they apply to the wastewater utility sector.  She is very active in the laboratory community and has served in a leadership role in a number of advisory committees to EPA,WDNR and environmental standards development organizations.  She has been involved with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee team and the National Wastewater Surveillance System since 2020.
